Difference between precision die processing and ordinary die processing

As the name suggests, precision mold has very high requirements for the precision of mold processing, and there is no unified standard for the specific definition.

As the name suggests, precision mold has very high requirements for the precision of mold processing, and there is no unified standard for the specific definition. That is, the product requirements are relatively high and the product size requirements are strict Good product consistency, high requirements for finish, complex structure and durability are the basic requirements of precision molds, and the tolerance can reach + - 0.001. Compared with ordinary injection molds, precision injection molds are very different in processing equipment and processing methods. For example, the processing method of ordinary injection molds is wire cutting, while precision injection molds may need to walk slowly.

Basic features of precision die processing:

1. The shape and surface are complex. The surface of some products, such as automobile panels, aircraft parts, toys and household appliances, is composed of a variety of curved surfaces, and some curved surfaces must be treated by mathematical calculation methods.

2. High processing accuracy requirements: a die is generally composed of concave die, punch and die base, and some may also be multi piece modules. The combination of upper and lower dies, the combination of insert and cavity and the combination between modules all require high machining accuracy. The dimensional accuracy of precision molds often reaches μ Class M.

3. There are many precision mold processing procedures: milling, boring, drilling, reaming, tapping and other processes are always used in mold processing.

4. Repeated production: the service life of the mold is long. When the service life of a mold exceeds its service life, it is necessary to replace a new mold, so the production of the mold is often repetitive.

5. Small batch: the production of molds is not mass production. In many cases, only one is often produced.

6. Profiling processing: sometimes there are neither drawings nor data in mold production, and profiling processing should be carried out according to the real object. This requires high imitation accuracy and no deformation.

7. The mold material is excellent and has high hardness. The main materials of the mold are mostly made of high-quality alloy steel, especially the high-life mold, which is often made of Crl2, CrWMn and other ledeburite steel. This kind of steel has strict requirements from blank forging, processing to heat treatment. Therefore, the preparation of processing technology can not be ignored. Heat treatment deformation is also a problem that needs to be taken seriously in processing.

The key dimensions of many precision molds are not allowed to have a slope, but the tolerance zone and a small slope are generally made full use of when making molds, such as gear installation column, etc. When building a digital model, we must pay attention to the adjustment of tolerance. Generally, the 3D model provided by the guest is useless, because many of its dimensions are the limit dimensions. If the mold is designed according to this, the produced mold will basically be scrapped.

Ordinary mold processing and manufacturing methods may not have so many specific requirements. It is OK to follow the normal mold design and processing process.
